I've been away from the PC this week but having just read the Panorama transcript, I'd like to request someone to produce a standard letter of non-complaint to the BBC.

I'm sick to the death of my inbox with 'sign this' and 'complain that' and ridiculous claims against the BBC of 'zionist agendas' and 'witch hunts' and the like. How utterly ridiculous.

They told it how it was.

And that's how it is.

Now go and enjoy your Jimas conference while I think of something proper to write.

ABU EASA WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST THE MUSLIMS IN THIS COUNTRY DO IN THE LIGHT OF EVERYTHING THATS HAPPENING? SIT HERE AND JUST READ YOUR BLOG???

What a sad blog.

Unfortunately you fail to realise that these kind of programmes are deliberately aired in this (negative) way to hamper any progress of legitimate political debate by Muslims, and valid participation my Muslims in politics - primarily by the MCB who were the ones being attacked.

By re-enforcing a negative perception of the MCB, the MCB becomes labelled as 'extremist' or 'fanatical' and thus reducing their press releases and comments to 'extremist' rhetoric. This is exactly what we DON'T need.

Go back and try again - maybe a blog with some thought?

re Anon. 2.29am:

There's no need to SHOUT!

And don't know if you missed it but hasn't AE just told us all to go to jimas instead? Duh.

And re. Anon 10.08am, this is a sad blog, very sad sometimes. But it's also a very happy blog sometimes when he's in a good mood - so come back another day :-)

Anyway AE, I'd appreciate if you could shed some light on the MCB's response and comments during the BBC programme.

Oh and super-finally, I know you'll like this one with you being a mad Saeed Anwar and TJ fan, then it seems they've finally clocked it...

What kind of a stupid blog was that AE? And what do you mean go enjoy your JIMAS conference?

As for the BBC, they seem to be accussed of being both anti-zionist and pro-zionist, so I guess you couldn call them balanced!

Asalamu Alaikum.

I don't think we can really expect any different from the media in the West. Sometimes we are surprised and horrified by what they say about Muslims and their take on Islam.

But to be honest aside from becoming angry and wanting to punch the guy who's doing the interviews. The ignorant foolish journalists are doing what they are mean't to do in their line of work, which is spread as many lies as possible around the world, that agenda is obvious.

With regards to complaining i personally feel its the individuals choice to choose to complain to the broadcasters and attacking each other doesn't help and is what they want. May allah guide us and help us rectify the deficiences within ourselves and our ummah, amin.

Asalaamualaikum

In my opinion, Muslims should boycott the Jimas Conference until they return to the true manhaj of the Salaf.

This year, despite the advice of our brother Yasir Qadhi last year, Abu Muntasir has decided to again invite Sufis, Ikhwaanis & Modernists to the Jimas conference and giving them a platform to speak on. Thus promoting Ahlul Bidah.

The advice of Scholars like Shaikh Saleem al-Hilali & Shaikh Ali Hasan al-Halabi, who are from the top students of our beloved Shaikh Nasir-ud-Deen al-Albaani, is that Muslims should not attend the Jimas conference, as you will be supporting Jimas financially, and thus playing a part in promoting these people of Bidah.

By our brother Abu Eesa also recommending Muslims attending the Jimas conference, he is also thus playing a part in promoting the Sufis & Ikwaani speakers.

We have to remember to be balanced, and be careful of not going to the extremes of SP, and the other extreme of Jimas.

I thought the Panorama programme was actually very interesting, and quite balanced - the subject was addressed in a fair way, and everyone was given a chance to air their views, including the clowns from the MCB.

For those who have problems with the programme, can they point out specific examples where they believe the programme lied? It is quite possible that I missed those, or am not aware of them and would appreciate the analysis.

Otherwise, we do not really have any cause for complaint, do we? Muslims seem to be getting really good at conspiracy theories and blame-games, and not much else. People, there is no so-called Zionist agenda at the BBC, just news and analysis from their slightly left of centre view point. That's life, we should stop complaining like a bunch of two year-olds and get on with it! :-)

Ouch, ouch and ouch.

And sigh as well.

For all humans out there who might not understand basic principles of a website then:

1. Anything I write is not an obligation upon anyone. I know, it guts me, but it's unfortunately true.

PS: This remains the case until I am soon crowned the Khalifah - then we'll see whether you get away with your cheap anonymous comments.

Ay na'm.

2. I welcome (especially at my own expense as many of you now know) quality criticism of anything I say or write. Just name yourself and show at least half a brain cell that works.

3. I can't think of the third point.

In any case, I'd like to mention some thoughts about the Panorama programme and seeing as I'm in sunny Bromborough tomorrow, I'll try and post something - with love.

And if you don't like JIMAS Abu Silahi then you can always come to our own Sufi circle on Sat. night after Maghrib but I have a strange feeling you might not find it to your liking - in fact, you might just reconsider JIMAS after a stint at Makki with us lot...

Salaam -

soooo much bickering, nit-picking and divisions.
Speaking as a new Muslim, its sad to see the state of the big not so happy family I've entered into.

The non beleivers in low and high places have thrived on the Muslims disparities and disputatiousness since way back.
They really don't need to exhaust much effort in distroying us. We're helping them. They're laughing and knocking back the champers whilst we're disrespecting and biting each other.

I know there is an absolutely massive depth to Islam and I haven't even begun to scratch the surface yet - people obviously feel the need to attack certain practises for particular reasons based on the knowledge or info. they hold.
But it often seems to go to the extreme - I don't mean hardcore extreme - I mean extremely petty.

When I'm six feet under I just won't care who prays form me, as long as someone does. If so and so wants to make a dua for me. They're most welcome, I won't be asking them about their methodologies and who they knocked about with.

Presently I really don't care if this person is of that school of thought, if that one is a Salafi,Khalifi or sufi and so on and so on. Division after division. Argument after argument.

I know I'm probably stating the obviuos here but-
as someone who's been looking in from the outside, it seems so clear that we need to unite on our Broad Base Issues and then sort out our differencies at a later date.

There is nothing worthy of worship except Allah and Mohammed is His slave and messenger.
What could be clearer ??? What a beautiful station to unite upon.

Wa salaam

I wasn't suprised to see that the JIMAS crowd has changed over the past few years now that Sufi speakers have been given a platform - what with all that kerfaffle about the physical heart, the spiritual heart the abstract modernist Renassiance heart...Man just read Ibn T's book on Diseases of the Heart and their Cures, really can't get deeper than that.

I respect Abu M & co's effort to try and unify the Muslims at a time of great division and I suggest you all do the same. For those of you who sit around all day acting like you're the Chosen One and get kicks out of pointing fingers at 'deviant' people, I suggest you get off your seat and come up with something better. Otherwise save it because everyone is sick of listening to whingers.

And aint Sheikh Salim Al Amry just the Don? MASHALLAH. So long as he's giving talks, I'll always be a JIMAS affiliate :-)
